Samsung did not bring the successor of Galaxy S II at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but the company did showcase at the event some of its latest Android-based devices.

Among them, we can count the Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 smartphone that was made official earlier this month, along with the Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus, which was launched in January.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 arrives on shelves with a dual-core 800MHz application processor inside, and with a 3.8-inch (480 x 800 pixels) touchscreen display on the front. The new device also includes 768 MB of RAM. Along with 4 GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The mobile phone includes a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with auto focus, LED flash and HD video recording, and a VGA camera on the front, for video calling. Connectivity-wise, it sports HSDPA, 14.4 Mbps, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 3.0, DLNA, Wi-Fi Direct, microUSB, and GPS receiver.

The handset was launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread on board, and with TouchWiz v3.0 UI on top. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus runs under Gingerbread too, also with Samsung’s own UI on top. However, this mobile phone packs a single-core CPU, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 chip clocked in at 1 GHz and complemented by 512 MB of RAM.
