Child's toy launched into space by Canadian students

A so-called Lego man in space was recently launched by two Toronto teens, as shown in the video below, which was made only for fun and not as school project.

While America is running down its manned space programme - further north - two Canadian students have shown that flying into space does not always have to be rocket science.

Matthew Ho and Asad Muhammad used a weather balloon to carry a camera and a toy lego man high above the clouds. They, both 17, are Grade 12 students at Agincourt Collegiate Institute created the Lego man.

The Toronto teens spend four months to design the Lego man, which reached 78,000 feet (around 24 kilometers) high above sea level via a homemade weather balloon and returned back to Earth 97 minutes later.

The Lego man space flight altitude, which is noted to be nearly three times the cruising altitude of a commercial aircraft, was monitored by four cameras miles above the earth, with the space project costing to $400 via the student’s money.
