JFK Cadillac Hearse Sells for $160K at Scottsdale Car Auction

A Cadillac hearse was sold for $160,000 at Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, Arizona during its annual Scottsdale collector car auction. The $160,000 car carried the body of President John F. Kennedy after he was assassinated.

The Cadillac hearse usually cost only $40,000. However, due to the historical importance of the car, the cost increased by almost four times of its regular value.

The $160K hearse, a 1964 Cadillac hearse built by the Miller-Meteor Company, was used to bring JFK‘s body from Parkland Memorial Hospital to Air Force One.

In 2011 Scottsdale Collector Car Auction, the ambulance that carried JFK‘s body after it arrived at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland was sold for $132,000.

The identity of the seller and buyer of the $160K hearse were not made public. Scottsdale Collector Car Auction 2012 runs from January 15 until January 22.

  1. Toyota, Nissan and Mazda are the favourites for Australian import via Sydney or Brisbane. Both Australia and New Zealand have a location advantage for imported cars due to their proximity to Japan.
