No Xbox 720 announcement at E3 2012 by Microsoft

Rumors have been scattering the Internet for years about when Microsoft is going to announce when they are planning on releasing their next console. Some rumors are saying the next console won’t come out until 2015, and some say it will be out by next year.

But at least Microsoft won't be unveiling a next generation home console at this year's E3 as predicted, with Microsoft's senior marketing director Jose Pinero stating that "At the moment, we have nothing to announce."

The Xbox 720 will probably take advantage of what Sony has captured on in using Blu ray discs and the latest 3D technology. It will probably present a slimmer console with the possibility having Xbox Kinect capabilities built in. Apps are becoming a huge feature in HDTV’s, Microsoft will have apps such as Netflix, Facebook, Skype, Youtube, etc. all linking to your Xbox Live account.  It will also support even more downloadable content for games on Live.

The next round of consoles is thought to be geared towards being more of an entertainment centre than just a games machine. TV recording is one touted feature, with motion controls and streaming movies coming over from current generations.

For now at least though, Microsoft is pretty keen for people to  think there's nothing going on.
