The prototype flying car dubbed as the “Transition Roadable Aircraft” of Terrafugia Inc. has completed its first flight. Terrafugia Inc. has been talking about it’s flying car since 2006 and has come closer to reality with their successful flight test. It was said that it is a step closer to its goal of selling the flying car anytime next year.
Reports said that the Transition car plane has two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. It can reach around 70 miles per hour on the road and 115 miles per hour in the air. “With this flight, the team demonstrated an ability to accomplish what had been called an impossible dream,” founder Carl Dietrich said.
During the test flight, the Transition car plane flew at 1,400 feet for eight minutes using an automotive fuel. Terrafugia will introduce the Transition car plane to the public later this week. Reports said that some interested people have already put down a $10,000 deposit to get a Transition as soon they go on sale next year.
