Ferrari Enzo: Abandoned $1.6M Ferrari Supercar in Dubai up for Auction

Ferrari Enzo

A Ferrari Enzo supercar, left behind in Dubai by a British expat will be auctioned off on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, according to reports available.

Reports say that the auction of the $1.6 million Ferrari Enzo may be the most expensive police sale in history. It will be part of a government auction of 129 seized vehicles that include 23 luxury cars.

The British expat reportedly abandoned the Enzo Ferrari before leaving the country to avoid ending up in jail because of his debts. The abandoned Enzo Ferrari became a wanted car by the Interpol after accruing too many parking tickets. It was left in a parking area almost two years ago, according to Major General Mohammed Saif Al Zaffin, Dubai‘s traffic department director.

Leaving cars to avoid fines and debts has been a common scenario in the Middle East. Among the other cars left by debtors include a Ferrari Mondial, an NSX and a Jaguar XJ220. Based on Dubai laws, any abandoned vehicle can be auctioned by the government if not claimed for more than six months.
