Tokyo Sky Tree: World’s Tallest Freestanding Broadcast Tower Opens in May

The Tokyo Sky Tree, reportedly the world’s tallest freestanding broadcast structure, will be open to the public in May, according to reports. A press preview of the Tokyo Sky Tree was reportedly held as a Tokyo developer led journalists for a walk on the tower’s 450-meter-high observation deck. A glass floor at the observation deck reportedly allows any visitor to have a ground view.

Reports say that the Tokyo Sky Tree stands at 634 meters or 2,080 feet and uses a special technology to withstand Japan earthquakes. The Tokyo Sky Tree structures can be seen through a glass window on top of the tower elevator.

Earlier reports say that the Tokyo Sky Tree tower was designed by Tadao Ando and Kiichi Sumikawa.
