The 63rd Sapporo Snow Festival Schedule


The 63rd Sapporo Snow Festival will be held from February 6 (Mon) till 12 (Sun) in 2012

EVENT SCHEDULE

Events organized by the Executive Committee

■ Opening Ceremony

Date and Time:    February 6 (Mon) 10:15a.m.
Ceremony Site:    On the stage of the large snow sculpture, “Taj Mahal” in ‘HBC India Square’ (Odori Park, Nishi 7 chome)

Program:     ・Musical Performance by the Self Defense Forces  
                      Band
                     ・Presentation of the Letter of Thanks
                     ・Greeting by the Mayor of Sapporo
                     ・Introduction of VIP
                     ・Presentation of Memento and Bouquet
                     ・Introduction of ‘Miss ~’ from all over Japan

■ The 39th International Snow Statue Contest

Participating Teams:    16 teams

India, Indonesia, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, Taiwan, Chile, Daejeon (sister city in Korea), New Zealand, Novosibirsk (sister city in Russia), Hawaii, Portland (sister city in USA), Malaysia, Finland, Hong Kong, Lithuania

Team Composition:     A team consists of three people including the team leader

Contest Site:     Odori, Nishi 11 chome

Schedule 

February 4   Meeting of the participating teams
February 5   Opening Ceremony begins at 10 am at Nishi 11
                      chome
                      Each team starts working on their snow statue
February 8   All snow statues for the contest to be completed
February 9   Judges decide the prize winners

■ Bushwalking on Skis

Opening Hours:     10:00~17:00
Venue:      Odori, Nishi 11 chome

Experience this popular winter activity in Hokkaido
Bushwalking on Skis at a specially prepared course at the Odori site
●Free rental ski equipments are available; including a pair of skis, ski poles, ski boots, gloves

* Free Amazake (sweet drink made from Sake lees) is also served from 19:00.
