Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 unveiled


Samsung officially announced its latest tablet computer, the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, which will be running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.


According to Samsung, Galaxy Tab 2 is the first line-up of tablet computers for 2012, which is somehow similar to the original Galaxy Tab that was launched in 2010.


“Two years ago, Samsung Galaxy Tab began to offer customers more possibilities on the go.” Samsung Electronics IT & Mobile Communications Division President JK Shin was quoted.


“Since then, Samsung has actively enhanced our tablet line-up with several tablets in different sizes. The new Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) will provide people with delighted multimedia experience and allow efficient communication.” Shin added.


Samsung has not yet announced exact date of release as well as its price, but noted that it will be launched first in the UK this March and is being estimated to cost $350 (excluding tax) for the Wi-Fi version.

Specifications

The 10.5-mm thin Galaxy Tab 2 features a 7-inch WSVGA display (1024×600) PLS TFT LCD, a 3 MP rear-facing fixed focus camera and a VGA camera on the front, and will be powered by 1GHz dual-core processor and a 1GB RAM.


In addition, the 344-gram tablet computer has a microSD card slot (up to 32GB) and will be available in 8 or 16 or 32GB internal memory; and will support Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + 3G connectivity.
