Samsung Launches Two More Ultrabooks

Samsung livens up the market with the announcement of two additional ultrabooks. In an ultrabook market showered with recent new offerings, Samsung unveils their 13-inch and 14-inch ultrabooks, both powered by second-gen i5 processors of Intel.

The differences go beyond one inch of monitor size. While the 13″ model comes loaded with 4GB of RAM (expandable to 8GB), its 14″ counterpart comes with 6GB of RAM. In terms of hard disk size, the ultrabooks come with 500GB and 1TB SSD and hard disk hybrid 5400 RPM hard drive, respectively.

The 13-inch ultrabook weighs 1.42 kilograms, while the 14-inch model tips the scales at 1.79 kilograms. Standard additions to these ultrabooks are USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports, as well as SD, SDHC, SDXC, and MMC memory card slots. Both ultrabooks come pre-loaded with the Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.

It remains to be seen who will emerge as the winner in the increasingly mobile market, where ultrabook weight, power, and affordability are foremost in the minds of consumers. But if Samsung’s twin launch of its latest Series 5 Ultrabooks in India is any indication, things may look optimistic in the portable computer arena over the coming months.
