Apple released OS X Mountain Lion developer preview on Friday, February 17, 2012. Mountain Lion is reportedly the ninth major release of what Apple described as the world’s most advanced operating system.
Apple said that the new OS X has adopted the features and apps of iPad. This means that the innovation will enable Mac products to utilize iPad apps that include Messages, Notes, Reminders, Game Center, Notification Center, Share Sheets, Twitter integration and AirPlay Mirroring.
Mac Developer Program members were able to avail the preview release of Mountain Lion starting on February 17. Reports say that Mountain Lion will be available at the Mac App Store in late summer 2012.
While waiting for the release of Mountain Lion, all existing Mac users can now download the free Messages Beta. With Messages, users can send unlimited iMessages from their Mac to iPad, iPhone, iPod touch or other Mac devices.
