27-pound Lobster Caught By Robert Malone off Maine Coast Named Rocky

A 27-pound lobster was reportedly caught by Cushing shrimp fisherman Robert Malone off the Maine coast near Rockland, Maine. Malone handed the giant lobster to the Department of Marine Resources and is currently in the care of the Maine State Aquarium in Boothbay Harbor.

Several international news reports say that the 27-pound lobster is almost 40 inches long. The aquarium headed by Director Aimee Hayden-Rodriquez explained, that the giant lobster was named after Rocky the boxer because of its claws that can probably give a big punch. Rodriguez revealed that the lobster will be released back into the ocean soon.

The 27-pound lobster is reportedly the biggest lobster that was turned over to the Maine aquarium. A typical lobster being served for consumption reportedly weighs from one to two pounds. The world’s biggest lobster on record, reportedly weighed over 40 pounds, was caught off Nova Scotia.
