Invisible Car Made Into Life by Mercedes-Benz Using Fuel-Cell Technology

Using the same idea behind the invisible car in the James Bond film “Die Another Day,” Mercedez-Benz turned an ordinary B-Class hatchback invisible, as reported. The invisible car is powered by fuel-cell technology which will be introduce in Germany for its first production.

In making the car look invisible, Mercedes employed dozens of technicians and some $263,000 worth of flexible LED mats covering one side of the car. Then using a camera which is mounted on the opposite side of the vehicle, the LEDs were programmed to mimic the image from the camera at the right scale, blending the vehicle into the background from a few feet away. Accordingly, it equipped the car power sources, computers and other gears totaling 1,100 lbs.

In producing the car, Mercedes wants to point out that the F-Cell hydrogen fuel-cell powered car can become invisible to the environment using only water vapor and heat for emissions unlike the smoke emitted by conventional cars.
